Issue Tracker Artwork (NPR)

This project is one of my favorites from my time working on NPR’s Election coverage. I was tasked with creating images for a series called “Issue Trackers,” looking at the issues facing the United States that would be important for the upcoming election.

My first reaction was that these needed to easily tie back to each other, having a clear visual brand identity that would be recognized across all of NPR’s digital platforms. I had been using the colors of the U.S. flag as well as flag motifs across all of the election related material thus far and knew I wanted to with these as well.

Collage allowed me to create interesting and distinct compositions for each issue, while keeping a consistent visual style across all. The stars and stripes motifs are used constantly to call back not only to the NPR Election coverage branding, but also the fact that these are issues facing the United States. In addition, I found that these elements added an interesting layer of added color and depth.
